इंटरनेट एक वैश्विक नेटवर्क है जो पूरी दुनिया के कम्प्यूटरों को एक साथ जोड़ता है। इसने रोज के कार्यों की प्राप्ति को बेहद आसान बनाया है जो कि एक समय कठिन लंबा और समय लेने वाला था । हमलोग बिना इसके अपने जीवन की कल्पना भी नहीं कर सकते जिसको इंटरनेट कहा जाता है। जैसाकि इस धरती पर हर चीज का एक फायदा-नुकसान होता है उसी तरह इंटरनेट का भी हमारे जीवन का अच्छा और बुरा प्रभाव है। इंटरनेट की वजह से ही ऑनलाइन संचार बहुत ही सरल और आसान हो गया है। और हमारी जिंदगी का एक हिस्सा बन गए हैं पुराने समय में संचार का माध्यम पत्र होता था जोकि लंबा समय लेने वाला और कठिन होता था क्योंकि इसके लिये किसी एक को लंबी दूरी तय कर संदेश पहुँचाना पड़ता था। लेकिन अब, कुछ सोशल नेटवर्किग साइट को खोलने के लिये हमें सिर्फ इंटरनेट से जुड़ने की जरुरत है साथ ही जी-मेल, याहू आदि अकांउट के द्वारा सेकेंडो में ही संदेश को भेजा जा सकता है।
मेट्रों, रेलवे, व्यापारिक उद्योग, दुकान, स्कूल, कॉलेज, शिक्षण संस्थान, एनजीओ, विश्वविद्यालय, कार्यालय (सरकारी तथ गैर-सरकारी) में हर डाटा को कंप्यूरीकृत करके बड़े स्तर पर कागज और कागजी कार्यों से बचा जा सकता है। इसके माध्यम से एक जगह से पूरे विश्व के बारे में समय-समय पर खबर जाना जा सकता है। ढ़ेर सारी जानकारीयों को जमा करने में ये बहुत दक्ष और प्रभावकारी है चाहे वो किसी भी विषय से संदर्भित हो चंद सेकेंड में ही उपलब्ध हो जाएगा। ये शिक्षा, यात्रा, और व्यापार में बहुत उपयोगी है। इसके द्वारा ऑनलाइन पब्लिक लाइब्रेरी, टेक्स्टबुक, तथा संबंद्ध विषयों तक पहुँच आसान हुई है।
पहले के समय में जब लोग बिना इंटरनेट के थे, उन्हे कई प्रकार के कार्यों के लिये लंबे समय तक लाइन में लगना पड़ता था जैसे रेलवे का टिकट लेने के लिये। लेकिन आधुनिक समय में लोग बस एक क्लिक से टिकट की बुकिंग कर सकते है साथ ही एक सॉफ्ट कॉपी अपने मोबाईल फोन में भी रख सकते है। इंटरनेट की दुनिया में, किसी एक को ये जरुरी नहीं कि लंबी दूरी तय करके वो अपने किसी व्यापारिक मुलाकात या किसी और काम के लिये यात्रा करे। कोई भी विडियों कॉनप्रेंसिंग, कॉलिंग, स्काईप या दूसरे तरीकों से अपनी जगह पर रह कर ही बैठक का हिस्सा बन सकता हैं इंटरनेट हमें कई तरीकों से फायदा पहुँचाता है जैसे ऑनलाइन स्कूल, कॉलेज, या विश्वविद्यालयों में दाखिला दिलाने में, व्यापारिक और बैंकिंग लेन-देन में, शिक्षकों और कर्मचारियों की नियुक्ति में, ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस आवेदन करने में, बिल जमा करने आदि में मदद करता है।

The Internet is a global network that connects computers around the world. It has greatly facilitated the attainment of daily tasks which were once difficult, long and time consuming. We cannot even imagine our life without it, which is called Internet. Just as everything on this earth has its pros and cons, in the same way the internet also has good and bad effects in our lives. Online communication has become very simple and easy because of the Internet.
In the olden days, the medium of communication was letters, which were time consuming and difficult as one had to travel a long distance to convey the message. But now, to open some social networking site, we just need to connect to internet as well as message can be sent in seconds through account like g-mail, yahoo etc.
In metros, railways, commercial industries, shops, schools, colleges, educational institutions, NGOs, universities, offices (government and non-government) every data can be computerized and paperwork can be avoided on a large scale. Through this, news about the whole world can be known from time to time from one place. It is very efficient and effective in accumulating a lot of information, no matter which topic it refers to, it will be available in a few seconds. It is very useful in education, travel, and business. It facilitates access to online public libraries, textbooks, and related subjects.
In earlier times when people were without internet, they had to stand in long queues for many types of work like getting railway tickets. But in modern times people can book tickets with just one click and can also keep a soft copy in their mobile phone. In the world of internet, it is not necessary for any one to travel long distance for any of his business meeting or any other work. Anyone can be a part of the meeting just by being at their place through videoconferencing, calling, skype or other ways. Helps in giving, in appointment of teachers and staff, in applying for driving license, paying bills etc.
