आज के यान्त्रिक युग में मानव को सुख- सुविधा प्रदान करने वाले अनेक आविष्कारो में से टेलीफोन (दूरभाष) एक है | टेलीफोन के आविष्कार ने मानव के बीच दुरी को कम कर दिया है | इस यंत्र के माध्यम से हम कुछ ही क्षणों में विश्व के किसी भी कोने में बैठे हुए व्यक्ति या आत्मीय जन से सम्पर्क स्थापित कर सकते है | यह आज के मानव के लिए विज्ञान की अद्वितीय देन है | अब तो ऐसे टेलीफोन भी बन गए है जिनमे बोलने वाले का चित्र व उसके टेलीफोन का नम्बर भी दिखाई देता है |

                इस अद्वितीय यन्त्र के अविष्कार का श्रेय प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक ग्राहम बैल को जाता है | उन्होंने सन 1877 ई. में इसका अविष्कार करके मानव को आश्चर्यचकित कर दिया | यह तो अब व्यापारी वर्ग , राजनीतिज्ञ , समाजसेवी  और अन्य सभी वर्गो के लेर बहुत उपयोगी सिद्ध हुआ है | इससे हमे समय , धन तथा श्रम की बचत होती है | व्यापारी इसके माध्यम से देश-विदेश से व्यापार –जगत के भाव मालूम करके अपने व्यापार में वृद्धि कर लेता है | आपात स्थिति में तो यह बहुत काम आने वाला होता है | घर में रोगी की दशा चिंताजनक होने पर इसके माध्यम से तुरन्त डाक्टर को बुलाया जा सकता है | कही आग लगने पर 101 नम्बर डायल करके तुरन्त दमकले बुलायी जा सकती है | लड़ाई – झगड़े, चोरी-डाके आदि की घटना से निपटने के लिए 100 नम्बर डायल करके पुलिस की सहायता ली जा सकती है | यदि घर में टेलीफोन हो तो डायल घुमाते ही टैक्सी घर पर बुलाई जा सकती है | दूरस्थ स्थानों पर बसे मित्रो और सम्बन्धियों को संदेश देकर आने –जाने की असुविधा से बचा जा सकता है | इस प्रकार टेलीफोन हमारे लिए बहुत उपयोगी सिद्ध हुआ है |

                 टेलीफोन का दूसरा पहलू भी है और वह है असुविधा पहुँचाने वाला | कई बार तो यह अनावश्यक परेशानी का कर्ण भी बन जाता है | ऐसा तब होता है जब पड़ोसी टेलीफोन का प्रयोग करना अपना अधिकार समझ लेता है | कई बार तो पड़ोसी आपके घर असमय में भी फोन करने आ जायेगे, जिससे आपको अनावश्यक परेशानी उठानी पडती है | कई बार तो पड़ोसी अपने मित्रो को आपने टेलीफोन का नम्बर दे देते है, परिणाम यह होता है की रात हो या दिन , किसी भी समय उन्हें बुलाने का झंझट और खड़ा हो जाता है | कई बार आप आराम कर रहे हो तथा अचानक टेलीफोन की घण्टी बज गई , आप दौडकर ड्राईग रूम में रिसीवर उठाने गए, तो पता चला कि वह गलत नम्बर है | उस समय बड़ी झुंझलाहट आती है कि यह बीमारी क्यों मोल ले ली ?

               टेलीफोन उसके स्वामी के लिए तब वरदान बन सकता है जब वह आत्मीयता निभाने के बजाय कटुता से काम ले |

Telephone (Telephone) is one of the many inventions that provide convenience to human beings in today's mechanical age.  The invention of the telephone has reduced the distance between humans.  Through this device, we can establish contact with a person sitting in any corner of the world or a soulmate in a few moments.  This is a unique gift of science for today's man.  Now such telephones have also been made in which the picture of the speaker and the number of his telephone are also visible.

 The credit for the invention of this unique device goes to the famous scientist Graham Bullock.  He surprised the human by inventing it in the year 1877.  This has now proved to be very useful for the business class, politicians, social workers and all other classes.  This saves us time, money and labor.  Through this, the trader increases his business by knowing the prices of the business world from the country and abroad.  In case of emergency it will come in very handy.  If the condition of the patient in the house is worrisome, the doctor can be called immediately through this.  In case of any fire, the fire brigade can be called immediately by dialing 101.  To deal with the incident of fighting, theft, dacoity, etc., the help of the police can be taken by dialing 100.  If there is a telephone at home, a taxi can be called at home as soon as you turn the dial.  The inconvenience of commuting can be avoided by giving messages to friends and relatives settled in remote places.  In this way the telephone has proved to be very useful for us.

 There is another side to the telephone as well and that is the inconvenience.  Sometimes it also becomes the ear of unnecessary trouble.  This happens when the neighbor considers it his right to use the telephone.  Sometimes neighbors will come to your house to call you even in time, due to which you have to face unnecessary trouble.  Many times neighbors give their telephone numbers to their friends, the result is that the hassle of calling them at any time, whether it is night or day, gets worse.  Many times you are resting and suddenly the telephone rang, you ran to pick up the receiver in the drying room, then found out that it is the wrong number.  At that time there is a great annoyance that why has this disease been bought?

 Telephone can be a boon to its owner when instead of keeping intimacy, he acts with bitterness.
